Gerasimos Floratos - Château de Boisgeloup, Gisors - OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2022
Almine Rech and Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso para el Arte (FABA) are delighted to announce the exhibition 'Hymn' by Gerasimos Floratos in Picasso’s historic sculpture studio at Château de Boisgeloup, Gisors, France.
Adjacent to Floratos’ Brussels show, the Boisgeloup exhibition includes many sculptures relating to a selection of paintings.
The title of the exhibition, Hymn, might surprise some at first, but the sculptures do have a sonic quality. They seem to be singing, shouting, or speaking. The artist leaves his works to open interpretation, like the mouths of his figures.
Floratos wholeheartedly believes that facial recognition is a crucial neural ability that allows us to survive in cities. The brain is capable of deciphering a fake smile from an honest one, a sincere word from irony.
His paintings bear a similar ambiguity.

The Picasso 1973–2023 Celebration
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso’s death in 2023, France and Spain will organize “The Picasso 1973–2023 Celebration,” an international event dedicated to the artist’s legacy that will see institutional exhibitions staged across Europe and in the U.S.
Neither the studies nor the finished picture contain a single allusion to a specific event, constituting instead a generic plea against the barbarity and terror of war. The huge picture is conceived as a giant poster, testimony to the horror that the Spanish Civil War was causing and a forewarning of what was to come in the Second World War.

Claire Tabouret: I am spacious, singing flesh - Collateral Event of the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia
23 avril - 27 novembre 2022
Palazzo Cavanis Dorsoduro 920
30123 Venise
‘Claire Tabouret: I am spacious, singing flesh’ presents a new critical reading of key dimensions of the Los Angeles-based French artist’s work in a remarkable survey exhibition curated by Kathryn Weir that explores multiple transformations: of self, other, collective identities, struggle, release, refuge. A powerful and unexpected dialogue is created with a number of vernacular devotional objects drawn from archaeological and liturgical collections in Italy, invoking an ambivalent threshold in Tabouret’s practice, a portal into multiple temporalities and subjectivities through which to consider alternative relationships amongst human beings, and between human beings and their environment, in the face of ecological and social crises and in communication with the supernatural.
Across 25 works by Tabouret - the earliest from 2008 but drawn mostly from the last decade of the artist’s multifaceted practice - the exhibition articulates various structures and fluidities existing within subjectivity and constructed identities through paintings, sculpture, video and works on paper. Errant subjectivities and magical materialism constitute thematic axes of the exhibition. Gradually, a suspended potential and metaphysical friction inscribed in the works comes to the fore through associations interior and exterior, material and spiritual, visible and invisible.

« Probably Picasso's most famous work, Guernica is certainly his most powerful political statement, painted as an immediate reaction to the Nazi's devastating casual bombing practice on the Basque town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

Permanent collection - Museo Picasso Málaga
By periodically refreshing, and thus revising, its permanent collection, Museo Picasso Málaga is in a way following in the footsteps of Picasso himself, who innovated constantly with his art throughout his life. With its thematic and chronological layout, this new exhibition narrative in the Palacio de Buenavista enables visitors to acquire a deeper knowledge of Pablo Picasso’s artistic career by grouping his works together in a way that helps them to understand his artistic processes.
The new layout of the permanent collection is the result of the combined efforts of the professional staff of Museo Picasso Málaga and Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso para el Arte (FABA), and the collaboration of guest associate curator Pepe Karmel, Associate Professor of Art History at the University of New York. It owes its unique features to a selection of 162 works on loan from FABA, some of which have never been shown before in Málaga, and to an innovative scenographic layout in the museum spaces. With the 233 works belonging to Museo Picasso Málaga and these 162 from FABA, the collection holds almost four hundred works by Pablo Picasso, dating from between 1894 and 1972, of which 120 are on display in the Palacio de Buenavista.
The exhibition is completed by a fully illustrated catalogue, with essays by Javier Cuevas del Barrio, Michael C. FitzGerald, Cécile Godefroy, Salvador Haro, Anna Jozefacka, Pepe Karmel, Luise Mahler and Eduard Vallès.
