In 2023, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death and the 20th anniversary of the museum, two “Dialogue” proposals co-curated by the American art historian Michael FitzGerald and the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso (FABA), have been included into the permanent display of the Museo Picasso Málaga.

Devoted to sculpture, Perpetual Metamorphosis, the first "Dialogue", relates to the exhibition Picasso Sculptor : matter and body (May 9 - April 8, 2023), curated by Carmen Gimenez in the museum's temporary spaces.

Our intention is to complement the approach of “Picasso Sculptor” by expanding our presentation of Picasso’s involvement with sculpture beyond his exploration of three dimensional materials to focus on the interaction of two- and three-dimensional media that is fundamental to his art.

This single gallery will display works that present the great variety of ways that Picasso explored the female body in a full range of media – sculpture, painting, drawing and ceramics. Not only will the gallery display this variety of media, it will present works that were made in a brief period of time – the years immediately after the end of WWII, when Picasso’s exploration of the relationship of different media was at a high point of his career.”
