Late Picasso

FABA is pleased to present the second stop of the travelling exhibition Picasso - The Code of Painting, which will take the title Late Picasso at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, on view from November 22, 2025 to April 5, 2026.

The exhibition brings together more than fifty paintings and around thirty works on paper created between 1963 and 1972.

Curated by Jo Widow, the exhibition explores the late period of Picasso’s work, during which his style became increasingly expressive.

« Picasso’s late works are less concerned with resolution and more with urgency. They are marked by a self-aware theatricality, an embrace of fiction, and a refusal to be polished or conclusive. » (Jo Widow, curator of the exhibition Late Picasso).

This exhibition is part of a travelling project that was first presented in Trondheim (Norway), will continue to Stockholm, and will conclude in Aalborg, Denmark (May 7 - September 6, 2026).

Each venue features its own exhibition design and a tailored selection of works.

The exhibition in Stockholm is organized in collaboration with PoMo (Trondheim), the Moderna Museet (Stockholm) and the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art (Aalborg).
