The Code Of Painting
FABA is pleased to present the exhibition Picasso – The Code of Painting, on view from August 1 to October 26, 2025, at PoMo in Trondheim. The exhibition brings together over fifty paintings, along with a collection of hand-painted ceramic plates.
Curated by Dieter Buchhart and Anna Karina Hofbauer, with exhibition design by Cécile Degos, the show explores Picasso’s late period—an intensely creative phase during which the artist broke away from traditional conceptions of painting. This period is marked by complete artistic freedom and a radical departure from his earlier styles.
This exhibition is part of a traveling project that will be presented successively in Trondheim, Stockholm, and Aalborg, with artworks and exhibition design adapted to each city. Please note that the format of the exhibition, the curators, and the selection of works will vary from one venue to the next.
The Trondheim exhibition is organized in collaboration with PoMo, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg. It will then travel according to the following schedule:
- From November 22, 2025, to April 5, 2026, at the Moderna Museet, Stockholm
- From May 7 to September 6, 2026, at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg
